It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Smith, a beloved resident of Montgomery, whose life was tragically cut short following a collision with a train.
Steve had long been a part of our community, someone who contributed quietly yet meaningfully—through his friendliness, his willingness to lend a hand, and the steady presence he brought to every room he entered. Although he is no longer with us, the warmth of his friendships, the memories shared, and the mark he left on his neighbours and loved ones will remain.

In this time of loss, we extend our deepest sympathy to Steve’s family, friends and all who knew him. We stand with you in grief and in gratitude—for life lived, for kindness given, for the legacy that remains. May you be upheld by comfort, love and the support of this community as we collectively mourn his departure.
As we remember Steve, let us honour him by living in ways that reflect his character: by being kind, present, caring and attentive to one another. Though his departure feels too early, his memory lives on in the compassion he shared and in the lives he touched.
Rest in peace, dear Steve. You made a difference, you were loved, and you will be deeply missed.
