The community of Reedy, West Virginia, mourns the passing of Kermit David Cottle, who peacefully left this life on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston. Born on October 7, 1957, in Elizabeth, David was the cherished son of the late Kermit and Evelyn Woodyard Cottle. His life was marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his country, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
David spent many years contributing to the community through his work with the Roane County Board of Education and later Monarch Rubber, demonstrating professionalism, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility. He also proudly served in the West Virginia National Guard in Spencer, exemplifying his commitment to service and to the safety and well-being of others. His dedication and work ethic earned him respect from colleagues, friends, and community members alike.
Beyond his professional life, David’s family was the center of his heart. He is survived by his sisters, Hazel Cottle of Spencer and Roberta “Bobbi” (Michael) Stoddard of Madison, Alabama, who remember him fondly for his love, humor, and unwavering support. David was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Joe and Robert “Rock” Cottle, leaving memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
David lived a life guided by humility, kindness, and service. Those who knew him recall his quiet strength, his willingness to help others, and the loyalty he showed to friends and family. He touched the lives of many, and his legacy of commitment and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
In accordance with his wishes, David will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or services. While his passing is deeply felt, the memories of his life, his dedication, and his compassion will remain forever in the hearts of his loved ones.
